Preparation Guidelines for Colonoscopy
What should be known?
Please select the bowel preparation medication prescribed for you and carefully review the individual instructions for its administration.
Failure to comply with the preparation guidelines will result in inadequate patient preparation, and the examination cannot be performed.
Regardless of the medication selected, preparation begins 24 hours prior to the examination:
- 1-2 days before the examination, it is advisable to avoid consumption of fruits and vegetables.
- On the preparation day, increased fluid intake is recommended, such as: water, still mineral water,light (non-strong) tea. In cases of severe hunger, water with honey is permitted.
- Until 10:00, only a light breakfast consisting of dairy products is permitted, for example: yogurt, kefir, cottage cheese, sour cream.
- After 10:00, food intake is prohibited.
1. Preparation with Macrolax
- At 14:00, take Macrolax - dissolve 2 sachets in 1 liter of room-temperature water.
The solution is recommended to be consumed in equal portions over the course of one hour. - At 18:00, take an additional 2 sachets following the same instructions.
If the colonoscopy is scheduled after 14:00, adjustment of the medication administration times is permitted:
- first dose - 18:00 on the day prior to the examination.
- second dose - 09:00 on the day of the examination.

2. Preparation with Fortrans
- Dissolve three sachets of Fortrans in three liters of room-temperature water.
- The prepared solution should be consumed in equal portions between 13:00 and 21:00.
