The Mammology Department focuses on the prevention, early detection, and comprehensive treatment of breast cancers.

In the inpatient department, surgical treatment is performed for both benign and malignant breast tumors. For breast cancer, immediate and delayed reconstructive surgeries are carried out, including oncoplastic techniques, silicone endoprostheses, skin-muscle flaps, and their combinations.

Intraoperative morphological and cytological express diagnostics are performed. "Sentinel" lymph node biopsy is conducted. Additionally, parasternal lymph node biopsy is carried out using the thoracoscopic method.

The clinic provides rehabilitation for patients who have undergone radical treatment for breast cancer, with rehabilitation in the physiotherapy and functional rehabilitation department. Upper limb lymphedema treatment is performed effectively using a vibro-vacuum massage device.

At our medical center, the above-mentioned diagnostics, treatment, and monitoring are conducted according to international protocols and guidelines, with the participation of a multidisciplinary team (oncological surgeon, clinical oncologist, radiation oncologist, radiologist, plastic surgeon).

Surgical Mammology

Mammology is the branch of medicine responsible for the detection of diseases of the mammary glands. Therefore, it studies both physiological and pathological processes occurring in the glands.

Surgical mammology, in turn, is a very important branch of surgical medicine. It can be said that this dynamic and multifaceted field encompasses a wide range of procedures for the diagnosis of various breast diseases and their surgical treatment.

When Should You Consult a Specialist?

You should seek consultation with a highly qualified mammologist at Todua Clinic if you experience certain symptoms related to the breast. These symptoms may be indicative of various conditions, some of which may be more serious than others.

For example: Increased pain and sensitivity in the breast area could be caused by hormonal changes or benign breast conditions such as fibroadenomas or fibrocystic breast disease.Noticeable changes in the size and shape of the breast are often associated with pathologies of the mammary glands. Unexplained breast swelling may suggest inflammatory processes or the presence of a tumor. Swelling of the lymph nodes in the axillary region can sometimes be linked to breast cancer.

Additional symptoms may include changes in the nipple, such as discharge, ulcerations, or changes in the contour of the breast.

It is important to note that these symptoms may be related to both malignant processes and benign conditions such as fibroadenomas, cysts, and fibrocystic changes.

Therefore, it is essential to consult with a specialist if you experience any of these symptoms to determine the necessary course of action.
